April

April is the month where we usually see our first warm days, hinting at the summer to come. Average highs start off in the lower 50’s F , but rise to the middle 60’s F by the end of the month (11 to 18 C). Average lows climb from the upper 20’s F to the upper 30’s F (-2 to 3 C). However, high temperatures have reached as high as the lower 90’s F (30s C) and as cold as the upper single numbers F (-10s C).

While snowfall is rare, it can occur. In April of 2003, over a foot (31cm) of snow fell, with gusty winds and frigid temperatures. Frequent showers are common in – which do bring the perennial May flowers. Much of the landscape is brown and stark at the beginning of the month, with small leaves and green grass apparent by the end.
