June marks the start of summer across the North Country. The days are at their longest, and temperatures have warmed significantly. Average highs climb from the mid 70’s
to near 80 F through the
month (24 to 27 C), with average lows rising thru the 50’s
(10 to 15 C). Although some cool nights in the 40’s F (4 to 9 C) do occur, they are relatively infrequent. A few nights may have lows in the muggy 60’s
F (16 to 21 C). A day or two of 90 degrees F (32 C) is also expected.
Afternoon showers and thunderstorms become more common, usually a few days a week, which bring the majority of our rainfall during the summer. Outdoor enthusiasts typically need to watch for these showers and thunderstorms closely, which sometimes become severe.
Lake water temperatures are usually in the 50’s F (10 to 15 C)
the first half of the month, then climb to near 60 or the lower 60’s
F (16C) by later June.
