October

October is a true fall month, with the peak of foliage season and cool, crisp days. Average highs fall from the middle 60’s to the lower 50’s F (18 to 10 C), with average lows falling from the lower 40’s to near freezing F (5 to 1 C). Several nights during the month record lows in the 20’s F , with some upper teens F possible (-9 to -2 C). A few daytime highs may reach the lower 80’s F (upper 20's C) as well.

Fall foliage peaks in upper elevations in early October, and in lower elevations during the middle of the month. By the end of October, most trees are bare, and with the clocks being set back, the warmth of summer seems far away.

Precipitation is fairly common from fronts and an occasional coastal system. Some flurries are also possible at the end of the month, mainly in higher elevations.
