LA NINA
In La Nina years, high temperatures tend to be slightly above average. The highest being Boston with 0.5 degrees above average to Albany, Glens Falls, Buffalo, and Portland all having 0.2 degrees above average.
Low temperatures are more likely to show a greater variability in temperatures across the Northeast. The coldest lows below average were in Albany where they were -0.5 degrees cooler on average, while other cities such as Buffalo were 0.4 degrees warmer than average.

Precipitation is just about split both ways, four cities with below average amounts of precipitation and five cities with above average amounts of precipitation. The greatest departure below average was in Glens Falls at -1.07 inches and the greatest departure above average was Buffalo with 0.63 inches above normal. Portland, New York City, and Boston are all also below average while Binghamton, Albany, Burlington, and Concord are above average.
When it comes to snowfall in La Nina years, six out of the nine cities data indicated below average
snowfall. Burlington, VT had the greatest shortage of -11.8 inches while Glens Falls comes in next with -7.3 inches, and is followed by Concord with -7.1 inches. The remaining three cities all had around 3 inches above average. Buffalo had 3.1 inches, Binghamton had 3.3 inches, and Boston had 2.8 inches.
