A developing strong nor’easter off North Carolina early this morning will move to Nantucket this evening. This system will bring plenty of snow to Snowy Mtn starting late this morning and lasting into tonight. By tomorrow, this storm system will pull away, resulting in morning snow showers tapering off to flurries in the afternoon. Looks like some great powder skiing over the next few days!

Today: Cloudy with snow developing later this morning, becoming heavy at times by this afternoon. Accumulations will be 3-6" at the base and 4-7" at the summit by evening. Temperatures will remain nearly steady, near 20-25 at the base and in the mid teens at the summit. Winds will blow out of the northeast at 10 to 20mph at the base and 15-25mph and gusty at the summit, resulting in wind chills below zero.

Tonight: Cloudy with snow continuing, gradually tapering off towards morning. By morning, look for accumulations of 6-12", with 8-14" at the summit. Some blowing and drifting of snow is possible. Low temperatures will be in the lower teens at the summit and high teens at the base. Winds will come out of the north and northeast, 10-20mph at the base and 15-25mph and gusty at the summit.

Tomorrow (Saturday): Cloudy with snow showers in the morning, tapering to scattered flurries in the afternoon. A great day to make first tracks in the glades. Total accumulations of 8-14" at the base and 10-16" on the summit. High temperatures will be near 20 at the base and 15 near the summit. Winds will blow northwesterly 5-15mph at the base and 10-20mph at the summit.

Extended Outlook

Sunday: Partly cloudy skies and pleasant winter temperatures will make skiing perfect. Highs in the 20’s and lows of 5-10.

Monday: Partly to mostly cloudy with scattered flurries. Highs 25-30 and lows 10-15.
